Always choose a mediator who is accredited by a respected mediation Accreditation provider, such as CEDR and follows an approved Code of Conduct. Mediation directories will provide external validation and feedback from clients.
Eve became CEDR accredited as a commercial mediator in 2007 and is accredited in Workplace mediation and CEDR Advanced Negotiation Skills. Eve is on the CEDR Commercial Panel of mediators and is IMI accredited. She is a highly ranked mediator in Chambers & Partners and featured in the Legal 500 and Lexology (Who’s Who Legal). Eve is also on the French mediation panel Equanim. Eve is a Fellow of the Civil Mediation Council and member of CEDR Faculty and coaches and assesses aspiring mediators.
Importantly, the mediator should have considerable experience of commercial mediation (or workplace, for employment disputes) and preferably experience of the field of the dispute in question.
Eve has worked on hundreds of commercial mediations and a significant number of workplace disputes, including team facilitation and grievance cases. Eve also works on mediation projects, in complex or multi party cases which require time (usually a number of weeks) and careful process design to work through the issues and reach a collective resolution.
It is important that the mediator be someone the Parties and their representatives feel they can trust and who will really understand what is at stake for them. Eve’s experience, empathic and thoughtful approach to each mediation case ensures she gains the Parties’ trust and respect early in the mediation day.
A good mediator will ensure both Parties get the best deal they realistically can expect, on the day. Eve is genuinely curious about the Parties’ respective positions, broader interests and underlying motivations and works to create value beyond stated positions. She will take as much time as is needed to carefully prepare mediation, with each Party, ahead of the mediation day, to ensure the Parties obtain the best possible result on the day.
If the mediation does not settle on the day, Eve will encourage the Parties to continue discussions under cover of mediation privilege, to try and settle the case shortly thereafter.
Most of Eve’s mediations settle on the day or shortly after.
